The wolves are circling
This is Philippine politics today. In a nutshell: The election is over. It was a battle won, but the war goes on.
We can call it many different ways. It could be a tragedy of commons. It could be our people’s inane black humor. We can even draw an analogy from video games. There is a reason why Aquino needs to keep on moving, pounding. The big boss is still out there, alive and kicking.
People sought fit not to give Aquino blanket authority. Sure, they gave him a victory to rival Erap Estrada’s win. They didn’t give him a Senate that would agree with his legislative agenda. They did not give him a House of Representatives that would limit Arroyo’s bid for power.
There is a reason why Aquino needs to fight tooth and nail for the Chief Justice because such impropriety as displayed by Arroyo is precisely why the nation is screwed up.
Change does not come easy. Change does not come without a price tag.
The wolves are circling people! The War isn’t over just because Aquino won. Aquino can’t win it without the real people who voted him in. Aquino can’t make the change he makes if people don’t stand by him. That would be the real tragedy.
